PHOENIX (AP) - A new sentencing date has been set for the former top leader of the Fiesta Bowl for his guilty plea to a felony conspiracy charge stemming from his role in an illegal campaign-finance scheme.
Former Fiesta Bowl chief executive John Junker is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 30 in federal court.
Junker told authorities that he and another bowl employee had conspired with each other and a bowl lobbyist to ask bowl employees to make campaign contributions.
Junker's plea to the federal charge marked his second guilty plea in the case.
More than a year ago, Junker pleaded guilty in Maricopa County Superior Court to a state felony charge of soliciting a fraudulent scheme.
His sentencing date in Superior Court is set for July 8.
