Fundraiser raises $10,000 for boy, brain surgery

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. -

A welcome update on a local boy in need of life-saving surgery. The family of 9-year-old Tyler Lillard says a fundraiser held earlier this week raised nearly $10,000.

Tyler, who hails from Johns Creek, needs exploratory brain surgery because of a tumor that doctors say has caused him seizures.

Tyler Lillard has epilepsy due to a brain tumor on his optic nerve. His mother, Tina, says he has suffered as many as 50 seizures in one day.

"It's difficult because you don't know what they're going to come, you don't know how severe they'll be, you don't know how long they'll last," said Tina Lillard.

The family health insurance will not cover the procedure.

Johns Creek is about 30 miles northeast of Georgia.
