The state Department of Public Safety says a pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle while walking on eastbound I-10, near Wild Horse Pass, early Friday morning.
After the pedestrian was hit, DPS says an SUV stopped in the center traffic lane and was subsequently rear-ended by another vehicle.
A second SUV got minor damage after hitting vehicle debris in the road.
The 61-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people riding the first SUV had minor injuries.
The woman's name hasn't been released.
DPS says they don't know why she was walking on the freeway.
