PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona House Republicans are slated to debate a proposed ban on public dollars for abortion providers that would go much further than a federal mandate against abortion funding.

The House Appropriations Committee is scheduled to review the last-minute amendment to Senate Bill 1069 on Monday.

The bill prohibits government dollars from being used to indirectly subsidize abortion services, including funding for rent, employee salaries or other overhead costs.

The bill also allows government officials to inspect abortion clinics if there is reasonable cause to believe the clinic is not following state licensing requirements.

The House Appropriations Committee is also expected to begin work on a revised version of the Senate-passed state budget on Monday.

House Republicans oppose Gov. Jan Brewer's plan to expand Medicaid access to 300,000 more poor Arizonans.
