Andrea's Remnants Pack Torrential, Flooding Rains

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Your Weather Authority is watching the tail end of our first tropical system of the season that brought a Friday soaker to the area.

With the remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea came high water, flash flooding and rain that seems as if it just won't stop. And the ugly night has turned dangerous for some.

Flood Warnings and Flood Watches remain in effect for many towns in our viewing area.

We may be over flood stage on some creeks and streams – but they haven't crested.

CHECK: Latest Weather Warnings, Watches, Advisories

People on Parker Street in Chester had to be evacuated because of the high waters.

Police and fire are going door to door urging people to leave.

Normal flood stage for this neighborhood is over 8 feet, but the Chester Creek is predicted to crest at 9.42 feet.

The Neshaminy and Brandywine creeks could see some flooding on Saturday.

It was difficult to navigate the high water on roads through the evening. Low areas in Camden were a mess for drivers trying to get around.

And there were slick conditions up in Bucks County, as well, as FOX 29 cameras spotted cars splashing around in Bensalem.

Interstate 95 was briefly shut down between Cottman Avenue and Bridge Street due to flooding.

Ultimate Doppler showed the last big area of the extra-tropical system's moisture approaching the Chesapeake Bay during the 10 p.m. hour, and that was expected to move through in the next three hours.

There could be a shower Saturday and it will be humid, but we should see some sunshine by day's end – enough to get us to a high of 79.

Sunday is your dry day as we warm up to 84 degrees.

Watch FOX 29 Chief Meteorologist Scott Williams' seven-day forecast above to find out when the best chances of rain will come next week.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
