Police search for driver responsible for fatal hit-and-run in Glendale

Updated:
GLENDALE, Ariz. -

Officers have identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run near 63rd Avenue and Northern early Wednesday morning, but the suspect driver is still sought.

Police say two drivers called 911 around 3:30 a.m. after seeing a woman's body laying in the road. One of the drivers stopped and waited for police to arrive.

Police say evidence found at the scene leads them to believe a driver hit the woman and then drove away. But there doesn't appear to be any witnesses.

"The unfortunate thing is we've had no witnesses come forward -- we don't have a vehicle description. However there was that evidence, those parts, those vehicle parts left at the scene," said Glendale Police Officer Tracey Breeden.

The 34-year-old woman was airlifted to a hospital where she died. She was later identified as Kourtney Leigh Keiser, of Glendale.

"We want that person to come forward, because how can you leave somebody in the middle of the roadway there, injured? And unfortunately in this incident, she didn't make it."

Northern was closed east of Grand Avenue and west of 59th Avenue for about 8 hours Wednesday morning while investigators gathered all the pieces of debris on the road.

Anyone with information is asked to call Glendale Police.
