A judge has denied bond for man believed involved in the hit-and-run death of a Phoenix police officer.

Police say 24-year-old Jesus Cabrera Molina is being held on suspicion of manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal collision.

Molina was arrested Monday in the death of 29-year-old Officer Daryl Raetz.

Raetz was conducting a DUI stop May 19 in west Phoenix when another vehicle struck him and fled the scene. The 6-year police veteran later died in a hospital.

Police investigators matched pieces of the vehicle from the crime scene with parts that were missing from Molina's SUV. But when questioned, Molina allegedly said the damage to his car was from an off-roading accident near Tonopah.

Court documents show that Molina told police he was drinking and doing cocaine hours before the accident. But Molina insisted he was at home asleep at the time of the crash.

Interviews with Molina's friends show, however, that he left a friend's home near the crash site just minutes before Officer Raetz was hit.

Police also have surveillance video of Molina at a drive-thru liquor store about 2 hours before the collision.
