DETROIT (WJBK) -

Gunshots woke neighbors on a Detroit street in the middle of the night. Afterwards, police found a 23-year-old man dead inside a minivan.

There is crime scene tape in the grass and shattered glass in a driveway on the 16500 block of Ilene where neighbors say they heard twelve to 15 gunshots around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

"We heard about a dozen or so gunshots, real loud. Jumped up just to see what I could see. Saw the tail end of a car, which I explained to the officer that came, speeding down the street," said neighbor Damon Williams, who added that it happened so fast, he didn't get a good look at that vehicle.

Police told us the victim was shot multiple times. Now investigators are trying to figure out who would do this and why.

If you have any information about this unsolved murder, call Detroit police or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. You can remain anonymous.
