Metro Detroit gas prices top $4 a gallon

Posted: Updated:
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Prices at $4.15, $4.19, even $4.25 a gallon! Fox 2 viewers are so mad about gas prices, they're sending us pictures from pumps all over town. Prices spiked as much as $.30 over the weekend. The hike caught everyone off guard.

What's behind it? Fox 2's Ryan Ermanni gets the answers drivers are demanding.

Whether it's the price of oil, speculation driving prices up, or any other excuse anyone can give -- drivers agree, it costs too much to fill up their tanks! Just the sight of the marquee causes a reaction. Gas prices are high and the impact runs deep in households all over Metro Detroit.

People are so angry and frustrated but they don't even know where to point the finger. The good news? We found one station selling gas for $3.85. A bargain at Royal Fuels on Woodward Ave. Being an independent gas station, they can charge less because they can shop around for the best available price.

No word on when gas prices may go back down.
