TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A new sentencing date has been set for a former Customs and Border Protection officer who was convicted on charges that he let marijuana be smuggled across the border.
Luis Vasquez will be sentenced on Aug. 19 for his jury conviction on four federal charges in February.
He faces up to 40 years in prison.
Authorities say Vasquez allowed over 1,200 pounds of marijuana to cross into the United States from Mexico at the Douglas port of entry.
