Aurora parents raise concern over school book about two dads

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

People in Aurora are voicing their concerns about what children will be reading next year.

The school board for Indian Prairie District 204 approved a book for kindergartners about a family with two dads.

Critics say the book focuses too much on diversity, but the school board stands behind its decision to add the curriculum.

Board member Mike Rising says, "as long as there is sufficient professional development around some of these subjects, I think it is good. What I'm hoping is that this will spark conversations at home."
