Planning ahead to get to Sox games during CTA Red Line overhaul may pay off

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Some big headaches are just days away for CTA Red Line riders on Chicago's South Side. The overhaul of the south branch is scheduled to begin, along with free shuttle service.

For the five-month reconstruction, there will be no train service from the Cermak/Chinatown stop to 95th Street. That includes the Sox-35th Street station.

Many people haven't even figured out their game plan yet, but those who make the effort to get to a Chicago White Sox game during the reconstruction will find that their planning paid off.

From the north, take the Red Line, which will drop you off at the Green Line 35th Street station and walk to the ballpark. From the south, take the shuttle bus at 69th, 79th, 87th or 95th to the Green Line at Garfield, transfer, ride the bus up to 35th Street and walk the two blocks to the ballpark.

The White Sox are offering fans a $10 discount ticket deal the day after the closure begins. Fans can use the code "SOX CTA" when buying ticket online for the Boston Red Sox series May 20-22.
