KINGMAN, Ariz. -

A Kingman woman has arrested for aggravated assault on her own mother, just a few days before Mother's Day, but that's not all. She also allegedly killed a cat.

Thursday, Mohave County Sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence incident at a Kingman residence. The suspect, Lana Renee Meadville, had apparently killed a cat with a knife.

When deputies arrived, they saw Meadville sitting in a chair. Next to her was the dead cat and a large knife.

Deputies contacted Meadville's 74-year-old mother. She reported that her daughter threw a dead cat at her, and hit her in the face numerous times. It was some time before she was able to get away and call 911.

Police say the victim's eyes were swollen and bruised. Paramedics responded and the victim was treated. She is going to be OK.

Meadville was booked into the Mohave County Jail for cruelty to animals and aggravated assault - domestic violence.
