PD: Package left in downtown Phoenix not a threat

Updated:
PHOENIX -

A duffle bag, initially believed suspicious, was determined not to be a threat. It was found near the light rail at 1st Avenue and Jefferson Friday morning.

Phoenix Police Sgt, Steve Martos says just after 7 a.m., they received calls about a white man who dropped off a duffle bag on the sidewalk behind the lightrail platform on 1st Avenue, between Jefferson and Washington.

He says the bomb squad was on scene and determined it wasn't a threat.

No buildings were evacuated, but about four blocks were blocked off.

A FOX 10 viewer told us traffic was a "disaster" downtown.

The lightrail was temporarily stopped during the investigation.
