JOLIET, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Bond has been set at $7.5 million for a southwest suburban man charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual assault and child pornography after an investigation into online distribution of porn from his home.

Timothy J. Brandt, 36, of the 400 block of Glen Avenue in Romeoville, was arrested Thursday after police executed a search warrant at his home, according to the Will County State's Attorney's office.

Brandt was charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, five counts of aggravated child pornography, and seven counts of child pornography, a statement from prosecutors said.

The arrest followed a two-month investigation launched by the State's Attorney's High Technology Crimes Unit into the distribution of child pornography over the Internet. Romeoville police and the U.S. Secret Service took part in the investigation.

Detectives took possession of Brandt's computers, according to the state's attorney's office.

The predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated child pornography charges are Class X felonies carrying a minimum of six years in prison with no probation, prosecutors said.

At a hearing Friday afternoon in Joliet, bond was set at $7.5 million, according to prosecutors.

Authorities ask anyone with information to contact Det. Paul Tuuk of the Romeovillle police at (815) 886-7219.
