Man sets himself on fire, kicks 50-yard field goal

Posted: Updated:

A man with dreams of making it into the NFL went to great lengths to impress scouts. Under flame resistant clothes and a special gel, Jaye Tyroff nailed a 50 yard kick after being set on fire.

"I think my calmness in being able to kick under pressure separates me from any other kicker in the world. I kicked a football on fire," said Tyroff, a former University of Miami kicker.

It's important to note that Tyroff is also specially-trained stuntman who has appeared in movies like "The Blind Side" and "We Are Marshall." He kicks in the Arena League, but he still dreams of playing in the NFL.

"I think if an NFL general manager sees that, he's going to say one of two things: ‘We need to sign this guy,' or, ‘This guy's a nut,'" said Tyroff.

Tyroff said he had blisters on ears on his ears and singed his eyebrows and the hair off of his left hand while making the fiery kick.

Tyroff says he learned fire stunts for the upcoming "Hunger Games" movie and thought this was a great way to bring his two passions together.
