ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -

The U.S. Coast Guard said Tuesday it's search for a missing boater in the Great Egg Harbor area would continue through the evening.

The boat, a 45-foot Sea Tow boat, departed around 7:45 a.m. and was headed to Great Egg Harbor, the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard says the missing boater is 32-year-old David McAuliffe.

By 10:45 a.m., Coast Guard watchstanders received an alert that a crew member aboard the boat was not responding to cell phone or radio calls.

"We were on scene within seven minutes of the initial notification, Lt. Randy Slusher of the Air Station Atlantic City said in a statement.

Crews have searched the area by helicopter and boat. The Coast Guard said the search area would move further south towards Cape May. It's believed the crew member aboard the missing boat had survival equipment aboard.

The Coast Guard says New Jersey State Police were expected to assist with the search at dusk.
