Medical specialists collect donations for Kenyan mission trip

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

In June, Dr. Mehul Mehta, a surgeon at Oakland Regional Hospital, and 24 others will join the International Surgical Mission Support on a mission to Kenya.

The team will be performing surgery on adults and children in need during their 10-day trip. More information on ISMS may be found at www.ismission.org.

Michigan Surgery Specialist office locations and Oakland Regional Hospital locations are hosting a donation drive that is open to the public and their employees. Individuals are asked to drop off comfort and basic items for children of Kenya that will be receiving much needed medical attention.

Donation Collection: Now through Wednesday, May 8
· Soft children's toys (stuffed animals, dolls)
· Pencils, crayons, coloring books
· Small pillows
· Small games (not a lot of pieces)
· Underwear for boys and girls
· Flip-flop sandals of all sizes
