Bicycle ride to benefit homeless children

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -

Valley cyclists are coming together for a good cause this weekend to raise money which will benefit 15,000 of Arizona's homeless children.

The money will help buy school supplies, clothing and other basic needs.

"Normally a homeless child doesn't have that opportunity.. they might not have clothes, they might not have backpacks, things like that.  Ride for the Children supplies that for them so that they can fit in and have a little of a better life," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Joseph Roberts.

The ride starts at Horizon High School on Saturday.
