NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A Long Island man is accused of  a road rage incident during which police say he smashed another driver's windows with a bat and repeatedly punched him in the face.

A man was driving eastbound on the Long Island Expressway near Exit 57 on April 10 at approximately 8:30 a.m. when he changed lanes and noticed a white BMW tailgating his vehicle.

The BMW followed him on to Express Drive South at Exit 62.  He says the BMW cut off his car,  bringing traffic to a sudden halt, causing a minor crash between two uninvolved vehicles.

The man allegedly hopped out of the BMW with a bat and broke the windshield and two driver's side windows of the victim's car.   He is then accused of punching the victim in the face several times.

The BMW sped off, but police later arrested Jason Parker, 25, of Central Islip. He's charged with criminal mischief, assault and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

He was to be arraigned Monday.

The beating victim was treated for his injuries at Stony Brook University Hospital.  No one was injured in the crash involving the other two cars.
