Glendale firefighters warn hikers who bring dogs during summer

Arizonans are often reminded to stay hydrated and cut back on physical activities during the summer months.

But, the Glendale Fire Department wants everyone to be aware that our pets can also be victims of heat illness.

In 2011, three dogs died on hiking trails in Glendale. Firefighters say for every one incident reported, there are dozens of animal fatalities that are unreported.
