Kids Cheer On Land Mine Detection Dog Sponsored By Eagles

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

It's a very big day for the children at a Kensington elementary school, the Eagles organization and one very brave and talented dog.

You see, the Eagles and the Lurie Family Foundation have sponsored another land mine detection dog. This pup, named Victory, follows in the footsteps of another detection dog who is currently serving a mission in Sri Lanka.

This marks the second successful partnership between the Luries and CHAMPS, the Children Against Mines Program.

FOX 29's Dawn Timmenney spent the morning at John Moffet School, where Victory was introduced to the children for the first time.  The pup showed off his skills to the children's delight.

Victory will soon depart for Iraq on a life-saving landmine detection mission.

While Victory is doing his job, the kids at Moffet will be able to interact with children all across the world who live in war-torn regions. The third- through fifth-graders are raising funds to help buy prosthetics and rehabilitative care for victims injured by land mines.

For more information on this amazing mission, please visit Champs International.

Good luck, Victory!
