Food blogger to deliver yellow dye petition, hold taste test at Kraft HQ

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

It's been over two weeks since Vani Hari of FoodBabe.com and Lisa Leake of "100 Days Of Real Food" launched a petition to get Kraft to take out potentially harmful dyes in their Macaroni & Cheese.

They reportedly sell 350 million boxes of Mac & Cheese per year, and a majority of them are consumed by kids.

The UK version of Kraft's popular dish is made without the dye, and the two ladies want the US version to be made without the yellow dye – so that American kids aren't exposed to its harmful effects.

After Kraft posted a negative response to their petition on their website, Hari decided to come to Chicago and deliver their petition to Kraft headquarters in person. Over 270,000 people have signed the petition.

She is also going to hold a taste test to compare the American and British version of Mac & Cheese.

FOX medical contributor Dr. Mona Khanna and Vani Hari joined Good Day Chicago Monday morning to elaborate on this important health issue regarding petroleum-based dyes.

Hari will be at Kraft's Northfield headquarters around 11:30 a.m. to conduct the taste test and plans to deliver the petition at 2 p.m.
