ATLANTA -

The Freedom From Religion Foundation has asked the city of Coos Bay, Oregon to remove its Vietnam War memorial because it has a cross, according to a report on Radio.foxnews.com.

The group tells city leader that they are violating the separation of church and state. The memorial was erected 41 years ago.

According to the report, the group has no objection to the memorial but objects "to the message of endorsement of Christianity over other religions and non-religions." They say the city is violating the law by allowing the cross to be displayed on public property.

Coos Bay city leaders are to take a look at the issue next week, says the report.
