Suspected serial robber sought in Douglas County

Posted: Updated:
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. -

Authorities are searching for a man they believe is responsible for several robberies in Douglas and Cobb counties.

Deputies say the man opened the door of a Title Max on Veteran's Memorial Highway on Friday afternoon and went right to work. His surprise entrance was caught on surveillance cameras.

Investigators said that the man wore a mask and held a gun as he collected cash from a register.

Detective Joshua Miller of the Douglas County Sheriff's office said that the man grabbed an employee by the shoulder and led him to the back of the store. He put the other employees on the ground, Miller said.

The suspect kept his cool during the robbery, witnesses said.

"Victims say he had a smooth voice and was not aggressive in the way he was speaking to them," Miller said.

The entire incident was over less than a minute after it began, Miller said.

The crook made his escape through some nearby woods. Deputies said they believe he's behind similar crimes in Cobb County.

"Not only does his actions lead to the idea that he's done it before, but also there have been similar robberies in similar type businesses," said Miller.

Investigators to catch the culprit before a victim is hurt or killed.

"These things are scary.  When people have guns pointed in their faces they don't always comply. There's an instinct to fight, to resist this, because it isn't right," Miller said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
