PHOENIX -

Former candidate for Sheriff Paul Penzone has turned his passion for keeping the public safe into a business. It's called Penzone Consulting and Solutions.

On Saturday, he's even holding a safety training course for women.

"There's a bigger need now to educate people to understand how to protect themselves.. greatest tool is your mind...  then you're at your safest point," said Penzone.

The veteran police officer and safety and security expert will spend Saturday morning helping women find the right tool to keep them safe.  He says many ladies, including his wife, prefer the Taser, so I tried one out.

"You wanna be within about  12 feet...drop this to the ground and flee.. it would go on for 30 seconds, but it would give you the chance to get away from him and get to safety," said Penzone.

But he doesn't just train women, he has a broad range of clients.

"We do workplace safety.. active shooter.. I have clients -- temple, churches, law firm -- private homes, families  across the board -- we assess your property, we assess your property, we enhance the training to make it safe for you," he said.
