SYCAMORE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
Three people from a Palatine family — a 57-year-old woman, her 19-year-old daughter and her 2-year-old grandson — were killed Thursday morning when their car collided head-on with a dump truck near Sycamore.
A DeKalb County Sheriff's Office spokesman said the victims have been identified as Jenny Perez, 19, of West Wilson Street; 2-year-old Roberto M. Perez of the same address; and 57-year-old Angelina Felix of West Palatine Road.
The spokesman said the crash occurred about 11:19 a.m. on Peace Road north of Freed Road. He said preliminary investigation shows that a Mitsubishi Gallant driven by Jenny Perez and containing her mother and son was northbound on Peace Road when for unknown reasons it crossed the centerline and collided with an oncoming dump truck driven by Reid Robert Anderson, 27, of Luther Lowell Lane in Sycamore.
Anderson was not injured, deputies said. All three Palatine residents were pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies reported that they believe all four people were wearing seatbelts.
The spokesman said the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's and the county coroner's offices. Anyone with information should call the sheriff's office at 815-895-2155.
