NY woman accused of stealing West Point meatballs

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — A woman who works at West Point has been charged with stealing a bag of frozen meatballs from the mess hall.

According to a federal complaint, Estelle Casimir of Newburgh was caught with the meatballs Jan. 30. It was just hours before they were to be served to the cadets for dinner.

Casimir works for Watson Services, which handles food services at the U.S. Military Academy.

The complaint says Casimir tried to hide the meatballs when a supervisor found her with them. It says she then claimed the bag was garbage she was throwing out.

The U.S. attorney's office said Casimir pleaded not guilty at an arraignment last week in Middletown. Her lawyer, Michael Ferraro, would not comment on the case.
