ST. CHARLES, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are looking for an 18-year-old man facing reckless homicide and numerous other charges in connection with a September 2012 crash that left a northwest suburban teen dead in rural Kane County.

On Sept. 2, 2012, Kane County Sheriff's deputies responded to a crash just before 1 a.m. at Plank Road between Engel Road and West County Line Road, just west of Burlington.

A 2007 Lincoln MKZ was westbound at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center line and left the roadway on the south side of Plank Road, police said at the time. The Lincoln rolled several times before it struck a tree.

Lawrence Echols, 17, of Elgin, a passenger in the back seat, was pronounced dead at the scene, and a second backseat passenger, Shadontre Smith of South Elgin, was airlifted with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

On Friday, a Kane County grand jury indicted Shannon Hill of Elgin on two felony counts of aggravated DUI, and one felony count each of reckless homicide, failure to report an accident involving death, and failure to report an accident involving personnel injury, a statement from the Kane County Sheriff's office said.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Hill, whose last known address was 48 Poplar Creek Dr., Apt. C, in Elgin. The warrant carries a $100,000 bond.

Following the crash, Hill and a passenger, Jamiah Harrison of Elgin, left the scene on foot, police said. Canine and air searches were initiated, and the men were found at 10:30 a.m. at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, where they claimed to have walked after the crash.

Anyone with information on Hill's whereabouts should call 911 or the sheriff's office at (630) 444-1103.
