Authorities are searching for a suspect in the hit-and-run of a crossing guard in Cherokee County.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, a crossing guard directing traffic at Liberty Elementary was struck by a vehicle around 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
Officials said that the driver fled the area northbound on Bells Ferry Road. The vehicle is described as a silver Honda Prelude driven by a white male wearing a black hat, black shirt and sunglasses. The back window of the Prelude had a large Tennessee Volunteer "T" on it, according to police.
Authorities said that the crossing guard was transported to Northside Cherokee Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Sheriff officials say this isn't the first time one of their crossing guards has been hit. Another crossing guard was hit in December 2012.
Anyone who has any information about the incident or the suspect vehicle is urged to call 911.
