Deputies say they arrested a 31-year-old man after he kidnapped a woman and fled from them on Saturday.

Yuma County Sheriff's deputies attempted to pull a Jeep Grand Cherokee over for a traffic stop near Avenue B and 8th Street.

The driver, Enrique Rivera, stopped, but as the deputy approached the Jeep, he heard a woman screaming for help.

Rivera allegedly fled from the deputy with a 28-year-old woman still in the Jeep.

Deputies pursued Rivera until he got into a collision at the intersection of Avenue B and 24th Street.

Rivera and the woman were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

After Rivera's release from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with kidnapping, endangerment and unlawful flight.

The Yuma Police Department is investigating the collision. Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor.
