The man accused of killing a 10-month-old and her grandmother, a crime that stunned the community, pleaded not guilty on Friday.

Raghunandan Yandamuri, 26, was in court this morning.

Investigators say he tried to kidnap Saanvi Venna in Upper Merion last year, but her 61-year-old grandmother tried to fight him off.

In a taped confession, recorded by Montgomery County detectives, Yandamuri admits to the crime but calls the murders "an accident."

Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty in the case.
