ATLANTA -

The state is launching a program to combat drunk driving over the St. Patrick's Day weekend.

The Governor's Office of Highway Safety has partnered with TEAM Georgia to ensure people celebrating have a safe and sober ride home on Sunday.

Organizers announced the push at Meehan's Public House at Atlantic Station on Wednesday.

The "Drive Sober, Georgia" app can be found downloaded on smartphones. Click here to download it from iTunes and click here for Android phones.

State troopers say they'll have beefed up patrols this weekend especially at night and will also be increasing the number of DUI sobriety checkpoints.
