Man arrested for stabbing Scottsdale woman

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -

Scottsdale Police have arrested a man for allegedly stabbing a woman inside of an apartment near 116th St and Sahuaro.

Police say 32-year-old Frank Banashley, Jr. stabbed a 29-year-old woman Sunday night, then locked himself inside the apartment.

The victim got out on her own and was taken to the hospital.

Banashley holed up in the apartment for hours, refusing to come out. After about 2 and a half hours of police negotiation, he surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

The woman suffered a single stab wound to the lower body and two to the upper body. She is expected to survive.

Banashley was booked into jail on aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, and criminal damage charges. Police did not release the nature of his relationship with the victim.
