GARDEN CITY, Mich. (WJBK) -

A fundraiser was held in Garden City Saturday night for the family of Vinnie Meiers, 18. The high school senior was walking home when he was hit by a car and killed last week. Police have ruled this an accident; the driver involved will not face charges.

Vinnie's friends call him a "genuine kid" who's life was tragically cut short. Now they want to help his family through this difficult time.

Two more fundraisers are being held to assist the family:

A pizza party will be held March 15th at Joy Manor in Garden City (4-9pm)

A second event will take place March 16th at the Sports Venue in Garden City.

If you'd like to help but can't make it to any of the fundraisers, donations can be sent to the Meier's Family at the Garden City Moose Lodge, 29137 Ford Road, Garden City, MI 48135
