Human remains have been found in a remote area north of Prescott Valley, possibly belonging to a missing man.
The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office received a call Wednesday from a Prescott Valley man who said he had come across possible human remains while out horseback riding. Deputies confirmed the remains to be human.
Terry Zane Ferrell, then 48, was last seen on July 3, 2011. He walked away from his Coyote Springs home and was not heard from again.
Despite extensive search efforts, Ferrell was not located. He apparently was in a despondent mental state and in possession of a handgun.
Detectives with the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office believe the remains are Ferrell.
A positive identification and a cause of death are pending from the county medical examiner.
