Light Snow Could Make Commute A Little Slick

Light Snow Could Make Commute A Little Slick

PHILADELPHIA -

We finally got our snow out there, with a little bit accumulating on the grassy surfaces.

To the north and east, a Winter Weather Advisory that includes Mercer County and Trenton runs until noon today for 1 to 2 inches of snow. An advisory has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning in Sussex and Morris counties in North Jersey, where they could get 2 to 4 inches.

And we have a flood advisory where you see green boxes along the Jersey Shore and Delaware beaches. We are almost out of the woods, but we have another round of high tides to go this morning.

Snow continues to drift down to the north. Low pressure combining with the storm system from Thursday has expanded the snow area, and it's reaching far into the Delaware Valley.

We will all see flakes fly early this morning. It is cold enough to support that snow sticking to the ground.

There is a 45 mph speed restriction on the New Jersey Turnpike due to limited visibility and slick roadways. But, in most places near Philly, the snow is not laying on the roads.

Our temperature before sunrise in Philadelphia was 32 degrees. We were at 30 in Allentown and 31 in Atlantic City.

The winds are still with us, gusting to 30 mph in Philadelphia, over 20 mph elsewhere. It will blow snow around and make it feel even colder. Wind chills are in the teens.

It is one chilly morning. But as kids get ready to school, you might have to brush off your car and make sure kids have winter gear on that they will need with the snow and cold.

Our FOX Futurecast shows the snow showers, especially to the east, begin to break up by noon, and they might change over to rain showers briefly.

By 3 p.m., the clouds break up and we will clear out overnight in anticipation of a very nice weekend.

Lucky for us, we'll see major improvement by tomorrow with dryer, calmer, warmer conditions and 57 degrees for a high, and we'll be at 56 on Sunday. We'll get to 61 on Monday but we will have some rain chances on Monday.
