New anti-Islam ad featuring Osama bin Laden placed in Metro stations

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

It's a face you don't expect to see in a Metro station.

"Seeing his face especially. That's not a face you want to see too often, especially after what he did to this country," says rider Anisa Bailey.

It's the face of Osama bin Laden. They may not like it, but Metro riders will now be seeing some new advertisements that include a photo and quote from bin Laden.

Pamela Geller is the woman behind the signs. She co-founded an organization called Stop Islamization of America.

"People need to know that Pamela Geller, the sponsor of these ads, is one of the nation's leading anti-Muslim bigots," said Ibrahim Hooper of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "She's recognized as that. The Southern Poverty Law Center has named her as one of the nation's inner circle of hatemongers of Islam."

After a court case, WMATA was forced to display Geller's ads. It's an issue of free speech - though it comes with a disclaimer from WMATA.

The ads just went up this week. They will be in Metro stations in the city and the suburbs for a month.
