Alert: Woman assaulted at knifepoint on South Side

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police have issued a community alert after a woman was sexually assaulted on the South Side Thursday morning by a man armed with a knife.

The 18-year-old woman was walking in the 2400 block of West 65th Street about 6:30 a.m. when a man armed with a knife approached her from behind and forced her into an alley, the alert said. He then sexually assaulted her and fled the scene.

The attacker was described as a black man, 30 to 40 years old, 5-feet-11 to 6-feet-2 and weighing between 180 to 190 pounds with a dark complexion and black hair.

He was wearing a black and red hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, and black shoes.
