CAPE MAY COUNTY, N.J. -

Residents along the Jersey Shore who are still trying to get back on their feet after Superstorm Sandy are now preparing for a new storm that could bring strong gusts of wind and flooding.

With the threat of the new storm, crews in Ocean City were busy Tuesday building new protective dunes that Sandy washed away.

Residents and businesses also spent the day going through the all to familiar dance of storm preparation.

"It's just eerie," Brian Teesdale of Margate told FOX 29. "Every time you see the water come up, you start thinking."

Post Sandy recovery efforts have been slow for many along the Jersey Shore.

A Wawa in Avalon, for example, is only just set to reopen next week after being closed for the past four months.

Other businesses are just starting to get back to normal.

Flood waters from Sandy shut down Tonio's Pizza in Avalon. After a new pizza oven and a fresh renovation, the restaurant is one of the only places to eat in the entire town.

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for several areas along the Jersey Shore and in Delaware for 7 a.m. Wednesday. According to the NWS, wind gusts could be as strong as 40 miles-per-hour in some areas.

A coastal flood warning goes into effect Thursday for many of those same areas as the storm makes its way through.

Officials in several communities are keeping a close eye on the storm's progression. In Cape May County, officials tell FOX 29 the Wednesday afternoon high tide will be the one of most concern.
