A Mesa woman has been cited after police say she caused an accident resulting in the death of a motorcyclist.
It happened near Cooper and Germann Tuesday at 5:45 a.m.
Joe Favazzo of the Chandler Police Department says a silver Ford was traveling eastbound on Germann and the motorcycle was heading northbound on Cooper.
Police say the car driver did not use caution before making a left turn on a flashing yellow light and turned into the path of the motorcyclist.
Favazzo noted that the motorcyclist entered the intersection on a green light at average speed.
In an effort to avoid the crash, the motorcyclist laid the bike down before impacting the car's passenger side.
Paramedics worked to keep the rider alive at the scene, but his injuries were too severe. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and was later identified as 30-year-old David Logan Edmonds.
Favazzo says the female driver of the car was not injured. She was identified as 39-year-old Monica T. Trejo.
Trejo does not have a driver's license. She was cited and released for causing a moving violation death and for driving with no license.
Police say one witness has come forward but that there was at least one other vehicle stopped at the intersection when the collision occurred. That person is asked to come forward and contact police.
