NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A slow-moving storm dumped several inches of snow on the New York area on Friday.

New York City got less than 4 inches.  Higher snow accumulations were reported outside the city.

The highest snow fall totals, at more than 12 inches, were in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut.

Connecticut state police reported about 225 accidents, including 17 with minor injuries, the AP reported.

In New York City, the day started out with some snow but changed to occasional rain and wet snow into the afternoon.

The big threat throughout the day continued to be the wind.

In New Jersey, a coastal flood advisory expired Friday morning after high tide passed along the Jersey shore.  Water levels that caused flooding on roads in Sea Bright and Absecon continued to drop.
