Cards, bills, and magazines spilled across Easton Road on Monday morning after the doors of a U.S. Postal Service truck broke open, police said.
Warrington police responded to a report of debris on Route 611 at 6:51 a.m. Police said the shelving racks inside a U.S.P.S. tractor-trailer driven by a 71-year-old New Jersey man shifted and struck the rear doors of the trailer as he was traveling north from Philadelphia.
The shift caused one of the rear doors to break off its hinges, allowing several racks of mail to fall over a stretch of Easton Road, south of Bristol Road.
Northbound traffic on Route 611 was backed up during the rush hour commute because lanes were blocked by mail and other vehicles. The roadway is now clear.
No other vehicles were involved and there were no injuries, but the driver was cited for the unsecured load.
