CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Debate about pension reform in the state house turned into a partisan squabble.
Democratic House speaker Michael Madigan brought several amendments to the floor Thursday.
They addressed the state's $96 billion pension deficit.
The measures would have done everything from eliminating the cost of living increases to requiring newly hired employees to pay an additional 5 percent toward their pensions.
But none of the proposed amendments got more than five "yes" votes.
Republican Minority Leader Tom Cross called the day nothing more than "political gamesmanship."
