TEMPE, Ariz. -

Baseball players and coaches at a valley high school shaved their heads to support pediatric cancer patients.

Varsity and Junior Varsity baseball players and coaches at Corona Del Sol High School shaved their heads to raise money through Vs. Cancer, an organization started by Chase Jones.

Jones was a baseball player at the University of North Carolina when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and was unable to continue competing. Jones beat cancer and started working for BaseBald, an organization encouraging high school and college teams to raise money for pediatric cancer patients and shave their heads in the patients' honor.

Jones eventually started Vs. Cancer, based on the same principles.

Groups sign up on Vs. Cancer's donation website, and after a couple or weeks or after you reach your goal, you shave your head.

On Feb. 16, 72 players, parents, and coaches shaved their heads on the home plate of their Varsity field. Aces Barbershop and Salon closed their shop and donated their time to help the team.

Originally, the team's goal was $2000, but they went above and beyond to raise over $3224. All proceeds will go to Phoenix Children's Hospital.

To donate, visit www.vs-cancer.org  or www.stayclassy.org/fundraise?fcid=233483
