GLENDALE, Ariz. -

Someone broke into the Salvation Army parking lot in Glendale and stole four tires off of a vehicle used to help the community every single day.

It was a heartbreaking find for a valley group trying to help their Glendale community.

"When something like this happens it actually strangles us and makes it so we have to shuffle around," says volunteer Tricia Frederick. "Hurts me as a volunteer."

It was 9:30 a.m. Sunday when a youth pastor found the van at the Salvation Army in Glendale, sitting on cinder blocks.

Tricia Frederick helps bring people to church and wants to give kids some positive alternatives.

"Sunday especially, it gets the youth off the streets and into Sunday school and this is the only way we can get them in when they have no transportation, no way for the parents to get them here on Sunday."

"We're not sure how to address it because we're here to help, but helping when you keep taking things that we use to help is really hard," says Denise Combs, Admin Assistant, Glendale Salvation Army.

What makes this especially difficult is that this type of thing has happened before.

"We've had a truck stolen that we've had to replace," says Combs. "We've also had our maintenance shop broken into and all of our tools broken, all the big tools to mow the lawn… I understand we're all in need, in one way or another in need of something, not only are we need of other things, we're in need of tires too."

The Salvation Army's Glendale office says everything donated in Glendale stays in Glendale. They use everything they have to help the local community.
