WORTHINGTON, Pa. (AP) - State police say a tour bus driver was slightly hurt by flying glass when a wild turkey smashed into the windshield when he was driving a church group back to Chicago from a western Pennsylvania event.
Troopers from the Kittanning barracks say 53-year-old Joseph Rychecky, of Oak Creek, Wis., didn't require immediate medical treatment after he was hurt shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday on U.S. Route 422 in West Franklin Township. That's about 35 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
Rychecky was driving the group from a religious conference at Indiana University of Pennsylvania when the second of 2 birds hit the windshield.
The group was from University Bible Fellowship in Chicago. Police say none of the roughly 40 passengers on board was hurt, and they praised the driver for safely stopping the bus.
