CAMDEN COUNTY, N.J. -

An entire community gathered Sunday to welcome home a South Jersey native who returned from a deployment in Afghanistan.

First Lt. Frank C. Broomell, who grew up in Sicklerville, was greeted by friends, family and neighbors during a welcome home celebration Sunday afternoon.

The celebration continued at a bowling alley, as Broomell and his family took part in the Operation Yellow Ribbon of South Jersey's bowling fundraiser.

"This young man's dedication to our country servers as an example to us all, Freeholder Ed McDonnell said in a statement. McDonnell is the liaison to the Camden County Division of Veterans affairs.

Broomell's service continues a family tradition of service that started with his grandfather Alex Mastrando, who was a Corporal in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean war from 1953-1955.
