He's not just the handsome handyman who can fix or build just about anything on his HGTV show.
Carter Oosterhouse is a hero to some children in south Phoenix who have a brand new playground thanks to the TV host and about 100 volunteers.
On Thursday, the kids at Academia Del Pueblo Charter School got to check out their new playground and now they have a new place to get active.
"I started Carter's Kids in 2007 and today, we build one playground a month," said Oosterhouse.
This one at a school run by Friendly House, an organization that helps families in need.
"We go in with rebuilding together who rehabs a bunch of homes and we build a playground in the middle and Lowe's, our sponsor, has been great with us and we get this fantastic playground behind me," said Oosterhouse.
The whole idea behind his charity is to get kids physically fit, but there are other benefits.
"What happens is the kids..they're playing on the playground, then the parents come together 'cause they're watching their kids and they all start talking," he said.
As you can see, they're healthy kids and happy kids too.
Oosterhouse's charity is called Carter's Kids. He builds playgrounds in neighborhoods around the country that have been revitalized to help bring neighbors and families together.
