OCEAN CITY, N.J. -

A new multi-million dollar beach replenishment project in Ocean City is causing some controversy among residents on the south end of the beach.

For the next two months, crews plan to pump 1.8 million cubic yards of sand from the ocean floor onto the beaches between Beach Road and 14th Street.

Residents on the north end are being replenished but many residents on the south end are asking why they haven't been included in the project.

Some say they at least want dunes to protect them if they're not going to see any beach replenishment projects.

Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian says he understands the frustration and says the south end will eventually get sand.

Project organizers say the beach replenishment plan was in place before Sandy even hit the Jersey Shore.

The project along the north end is expected to be finished by early May.
